Use insect repellents containing DEET or Icaridin

Treat clothing with permethrin or purchase permethrin-treated clothing

When weather permits, wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants

Use air conditioning or window/door screens to keep mosquitoes outside

Help reduce the number of mosquitoes inside and outside your home or hotel room by emptying standing water from containers such as flower pots or buckets

What is the treatment for Zika Virus?

Get plenty of rest Drink fluids to prevent dehydration Take medicines such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) to relieve fever and pain Avoid aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and naproxen as there is a slight risk these can exacerbating bleeding
