Following a report on CBC News regarding a nation wide typhoid fever vaccine recall, we would like to assure our clients that TMVC is fully complying with the voluntary recall.
Vaccine maker Sanofi informed us early last week of a potential potency issue with certain batches of their Typhim Vi vaccine. All our locations were immediately notified and affected batches quarantined. We are now in the process of returning the vaccines.
“There is no safety concern for individuals who have received a Typhim Vi vaccine dose from a recalled batch. The doses were identified as potentially having less antigen, the substance that stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against the disease.” Health Canada said in a statement on Thursday.
Sanofi is not recommending that people go for a booster shot earlier than normally scheduled. We are in close contact with Sanofi should further information become available.
Customers requiring more information are welcome to email our travel health care professionals at info@tmvc.com.
