Travellers are reminded that the flu can strike anywhere, even during your tropical vacation. Influenza season in the northern hemisphere usually lasts from November to April. There may still be occasional cases or outbreaks at any time of the year. In the southern hemisphere the flu season is between April and October and in the tropics the flu is a concern year round.
Getting the influenza vaccine prior to your trip is highly recommended and together with a good hand washing routine and proper sneezing/coughing technique one of the ways to avoid catching the flu while away from home.
At TMVC you can get your influenza vaccine conveniently when you come in for your travel vaccinations. The cost is $20.
More information on the flu and travelling can be found on the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website here.
